    Frequently Asked Questions

What the exam actually looks like, and what this simulator does.

The Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE®) is administered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB®). Passing it earns the CPhT credential. It is a 90-item, four-option multiple-choice exam with a 110-minute testing time.

One continuous 90-item form: 80 scored items plus 10 unscored items that are not identified to you and are randomly distributed. There are no sections and no per-section timers, and items are not grouped by domain. You may review and change your answers until the 110 minutes expire.

Under the content outline effective 6 January 2026: Medications 35.00% (28 scored items), Federal Requirements 18.75% (15), Patient Safety and Quality Assurance 23.75% (19), and Order Entry and Processing 22.50% (18).

No. The PTCE uses fixed parallel forms that are statistically equated, so it is not a computer-adaptive test.

The PTCE reports a scaled score from 1,000 to 1,600, with a passing score of 1,400. There is no published raw-to-scaled conversion, so this simulator reports your raw percentage and per-domain counts instead of predicting a scaled score.

The PTCE is delivered at Pearson VUE test centers only; it is excluded from online proctoring. An on-screen calculator is provided and personal calculators are not permitted.

Every item here is original, written to PTCB's published 2026 content outline. We do not have access to live exam content and do not claim to reproduce it.

Lifetime access. Once you purchase you can practice as many times as you want, and you receive future question-bank updates at no extra cost.

Yes. We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee — 14 days from purchase, no proof required. Full Access also carries a separate didn't-pass refund; the full mechanics are on the pricing page.
